~Testimony!~

Super duper belated repost from Rebecca Lincoln, 1 July 2007.

morning!

i have photos to show everyone from my graduation on the 19th of june 2007. graduation was a testimony itself of God's providence in my life. some of you have already heard it at sunnydale cell/project daniel (where jaena gave me an opportunity to lead yesterday!). for the rest, take time to read through this and i hope the testimony will encourage you as well (for those lazy to read and just want photos scroll down and click on the photobucket links with descriptions).

for a long time, i've had faith in God because God has provided for my family. those of you who have visited my house would have heard me say that a lot of the things we have at home were gifts from friends. on graduation day itself, i received first hand God's favour and providence. this came about by me being silly and it taking place in the morning when i was setting up panels for graduation. i didn't know you weren't supposed to use glue on styrofoam because it will corrode the styrofoam. it was only after i glued everything that my friend's brother told me. by then, i had used up all my tape and i prayed to God to provide tape. i went around asking and loads of friends gave me tape to use. some even helped me put up the top panels, which was really nice. the panels ended up staying up the whole night so thank God!

second occurance was when we were waiting for the examiners to grade our panels. one of my best friends was late and he asked me to stall the examiners. i didn't get how to stall the people who could fail you if you were late so i was praying for God's favour that i wouldn't get screamed at for trying to stall examiners. my friend came and i helped him set up his panel. halfway through, the examiner marking my friend's panel was done and walked to the next person (i was next). i freaked out and later calmed down to pray. i was afraid i would fail. the examiners that went to the next person were lecturers from our school. they knew what we'd been doing for the past 6 months and after thinking about it, i was sort of relieved that they didn't grade me. i prayed for God's favour and waited close to 45 minutes before the programme director asked if i'd been graded and got someone to grade me. the grading went well. he liked my artwork and all was good. having a creative designer tell you he liked your artwork was a big relief.

third occurance was when my friend offered to redo my makeup. we rushed back to her hotel across the road and she helped me redo my makeup. as we were leaving her brother said i didn't look nice with glasses and suggested wear take his contact lenses. i told him the degree would probably not be the same but he insisted that i go see. imagine my surprise when i saw that his contacts were very similar to my degree. mine was 2.75 for both side and his was 2.70 for one side and 2.75 for the other side. it blew my mind and i remember thanking him for providing for me.

anyway, now that i've given my testimony, photos!

Thanksgiving 2008 - I WIll Follow You

Ricky Nelson:

I will follow you
Follow you wherever you may go
There isn't an ocean too deep
A mountain so high it can keep me away

I must follow you
Ever since you touched my hand I know
The near you I always must be
And nothing can keep you from me
You are my destiny

I love you, I love you, I love you
And where you go I'll follow, I'll follow, I'll follow
You'll always be my true love, my true love, my true love
From now until forever, forever, forever

Keep me away, away from my love

And where you go I'll follow

Oh, I Want To Know You More - Steve Fry, Steve Green, Cadet Sisters

Saturday, November 22, 2008, Trinity@Adam

Sermon by Pastor Gerald from Job 42: 1-6, 10-17 was good. About how we had to understand God's plan by first acknowledging His sovereignty, stop speaking & start listening & to move from hearsay to seeing and affectionately knowing God.

http://www.trinity.net/

Especially the final part about Steve Fry and the background to this song. How he had everything (like Job) but lost it all. Finally realising that above all else, he HAD to know God more.

Steve Green:

Just the time I feel that I've been caught in the mire of self,
Just the time I feel my mind's been bought by worldly wealth,
That's when the breeze begins to blow, I know the Spirit's call,
And all my worldly wanderings just melt into His love.

Oh, I want to know you more,
Deep within my soul I want to know you,
Oh I want to know you.
To feel your heart and know your mind.
Looking in your eyes stirs up within me
Cries that say I want to know you.
Oh I want to know you more.

When my daily deeds ordinarily lose life and song,
My heart begins to bleed, sensitivity to Him is gone.
I've run the race, but set my own pace and face a shattered soul,
Now the gentle arms of Jesus warm my hunger to be whole.

And I would give my final breath to know you in your death and resurrection.
Oh I want to know you more. Oh I want to know you, to know you more.
Oh I want to know you more.

Let God heal your wounds

"I will...heal your wounds."
Jeremiah 30:17 NIV

Addressing the student body at Virginia Tech after a shooting rampage that left 33 people dead and dozens more wounded, Philip Yancey said: "Peter once said to Jesus...'Lord, to whom can we go?'...You've heard, 'Things will get better. You'll get past this.'...Those who offer such comfort mean well, and it's true what you feel now you won't always feel. Yet...you're a different person because of that day...When three of my friends died I came across these lines: 'Grief melts away like snow in May, as if there were no such thing as cold.' I clung to that hope, even as grief smothered me like an avalanche. It did melt away, but like snow it came back in fierce, unexpected ways, triggered by a sound, a smell, a fragment of memory."

Yancey continued, "Pain is a sign of life and love. I'm wearing a neck brace because I broke my neck in an accident. Initially medical workers refused to give me medication because they needed my response. The doctor kept asking, 'Does this hurt? Can you feel that?' The answer he desperately wanted was, 'Yes, it hurts, I can feel it,' proof that my spinal cord hadn't been severed. Pain offers proof of life, of connection. In deep wounds two kinds of tissue must heal: connective tissue, plus the outer protective tissue. If the outer protective tissue heals too quickly the inner connective tissue won't heal properly, leading to complications later."
Don't attempt healing alone. Real healing takes time. It takes place where God's presence, God's peace, and God's people are. Are you hurting today? Turn to God. His promise to you is "I will...heal your wounds" (Jer 30:17 NIV).

I'll be home for Christmas - Josh Groban

A song which brings tears to my eyes each time I hear it. Come back, soldiers!
What is your Christmas wish this year...?

To all who serve and have served, and to their families - thank-you for your strength and sacrifice and may God bless you.

Thanksgiving 2008 - Lean On Me

Interpreted by dc Talk in 1992

Couldn't find any of their original videos, so to enjoy listening, just have to hit the play button and close your eyes!~

[Oldie but a goodie]
[1, 2, 3, funky]
[True MC, True MC]
[Everybody listens to the True MC]

True MC, no slack on the track
Here to tell the people that love's what we lack
In this family we gotta love like Christ
So precise in your life so take this advice
Brother to brother we need to learn to love each other
So lean on me when you're in trouble
I cast my cares on Christ 'cause He cares for me
So when you need a shoulder to cry on, just lean

[Props to my man speedy, 1, 2, 3]

(chorus)
Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long 'til
I'm gonna need somebody to lean on

Sometimes in our lives
We all have pain, we all have sorrows
But, if we are wise
We know that there's always tomorrow

(repeat chorus)

Please, swallow your pride
If I have things that you need to borrow
For, no one can fill those of your needs
If you won't let them show

(repeat chorus)

You just call on your brother when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have some problems that you'd understand
We all need somebody to lean on

(repeat chorus)

Make it funky, make it funky
Make it funky, make it funky
Make it funky, make it funky

Cause I'm housin' this joint
Like a brother with an attitude
And comin' straight so you best give me latitude
Leanin' on my boys from the word get go
And bein' there for them cause the Lord said so
Many of us just don't know what to do
Well take it here and now from the boy named true
Don't dog a brother out when he stumbles and falls
Just be there to lean on y'all

Call me, call me, just call me,
Call me, call me, just call me, lean on me
Don't you know that I'll be there, you can lean on me
Don't you know that I'll be there, you can lean on me
Don't you know that I'll be there, you can lean on me

Bill Withers original version, oldie but goodie, *winkz* Very S-L-O-W.....

Sometimes in our lives we all have pain
We all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there's always tomorrow

Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on

Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you don't let show

You just call on your brother when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you'd understand
We all need somebody to lean on

If there is a load you have to bear
That you can't carry
I'm right up the road
I'll share your load
If you just call me

Call me, if you ever need a friend, call me, call me
