When ALL is LOST... What Man does in times of DESPERATION...

I read in disbelief at this article. The images I saw... My first thought "This isn't United States of America... the scene's totally unrecognisable" As someone described " Its is as if a tsunami has hit the Gulf Coast". In the wake of Hurricane Katrina as it left its trail of devastation in New Orleans, assistance and aid are slow and delayed. Families get separated, homes destroyed, people are hungry, tired, discouraged, frustrated and truly... in a word... hopeless. Some just lost everything overnight... cars, assets, their loved ones. Surivivors are living in the worst possibly imaginable conditions. It is indeed when Man are pushed to his limits and drove to the point of desperation... morality and ethics get thrown out of the window. Survival is the new God. Basic human rights and dignity are pushed to a new low. The heart of the selfishness and greed of Man gets revealed through the ultimate litmus test - true adversity. Looting, shootings, gunfire, rapes and carjackings are already becoming a big headache for the law enforcers. The temptation to satisfy one's needs proved to be too great to resist, even for Christians.

One guy who looted a local drugstore said "I'm a Christian. I feel bad going in there."

Tourist Debbie Durso of Washington, Mich., said she asked a police officer for assistance and his response was, "Go to hell - it's every man for himself.''

"If they're just taking us anywhere, just anywhere, I say praise God," said refugee John Phillip. "Nothing could be worse than what we've been through."

"You can do everything for other countries, but you can't do nothing for your own people," he added. "You can go overseas with the military, but you can't get them down here."
quipped 47-year-old Daniel Edwards.

What an irony...

What will YOU do in the face of a catastrophe/tragedy? Can be a personal crisis also... The possibilities are many. We can only prepare for that day of judgement by constantly Walking with God, abiding by His Wisdom.
Until the day it happens (not a matter of 'IF' but 'WHEN' and it will probably catch us off-guard), honestly in my heart, it is a question of which I don't really have the answer...

"The LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. " Job 1:21
